Hi y’all! Being an introvert, sometimes it’s easier to navigate you to my website to get to know me. Im super passionate about a lot of things. My two great loves are family history and learning. I currently serve as Ward Temple and Family History Leader and as a worker in the Twin Falls Temple. I love attending BYU Ed Week and Sperry Symposium each year and lead lots of book clubs in my free time.

The Book of Nelson
A couple of years ago I felt inspired to put together a compilation of all of President Nelson’s words as if they were right out of our scriptures. Some suggested I try to submit it to Deseret Book or something. So as a preliminary I sent it through the church’s copyright division which denied the request. They wouldn’t say why exactly, but I’m sure it’s because of the formatting. I totally get it. But I can share for free with friends and family, just not publish it like that. So in response to that situation, I went back and reformatted a second version as an “unofficial compilation”. That’s why I’m offering both. Use whichever you feel more comfortable with.
Some have asked me what I’ve learned so far from this project. Among other things I find it amazing, his study of languages. I could (and probably will) create a long list of all of the definitions/translations that he throws out in his talks. In the 90s Pres Nelson used extensive footnotes. Even his footnotes have footnotes! And another thing is his love for Abraham. Footnote 1 from his Oct 2020 address Let God Prevail states: “I have spoken of Israel in at least 378 of the more than 800 messages I have delivered during my 36 years as an Apostle.”
I’m still looking for all of the 378 messages that he’s said that he has spoken on the Abrahamic covenant. I’ve only found a total of 178 published talks and he’s said that has given over 800 messages! I realize that many are probably stake conferences or other meetings that are not recorded, but still I’d love to find more!
I have 2 different formats attached. The reformatted version includes hyperlinks to the websites where you can read the originals and jump around the document from the table of contents. The version that looks more like the scriptures is meant for print and does not include links. I will be creating an all-inclusive table of contents after I finish the entire project so that everything is there with links and easily accessible.
Restoration Proclamations
In light of conference coming up I was restudying the most recent Restoration Proclamation. The more I studied, the more that previous proclamations seemed to be quoted or hinted at in it. So I decided to cross reference and make my own footnotes. But its surprisingly difficult to find good text-based versions of them in their entirety. That just simply will not do! So without further ado, I give you some stylish newly formatted proclamations for you to study with
Keep in mind these are UNOFFICIAL! These have not been approved by the church. I’ve tried to get them as accurate as possible to the originals as I could. I did take liberty with a few of their titles as to match their content. If you find any errors let me know.
LearningZion.com
Back in 2020 I started teaching classes out of my garage. Recognizing that the pandemic was hard on everyone socially and that we were all missing Sunday School and other interactions, I figured this was the best bet. As invited by Elder Cook in his address, I started an informal study group. I had taken quite a few BYU Education Week classes and was merely sharing my notes with others and having some good discussions.
When President Nelson gave his Let God Prevail talk, it struck a huge cord with me. I had been reading The Blessings of Abraham by E. Douglas Clark and wanted to discuss it and the Abrahamic Covenant with people. I was prompted one night to ask a group of friends on Facebook if they wanted to have a Zoom Bookclub and read it together. Lots were eager to join in. That reignited my love for book clubs. We have done many many books since then. LearningZion is a private (open to all, requires login) website for our bookclubs where we have all of our past discussions available. It’s really a hub for everything I do these days.
Beginning Biblical Hebrew
After our bookclub studied the Lectures on Faith, we decided that we really wanted to learn Hebrew like the School of the Prophets did. Many other factors contributed in us looking for a good way to learn. Price would exclude many from the group from learning. So I decided to take the project on. It would be a study group where we all teach each other. But I would lead the discussions and learning a bit. So you could very loosely say that I “teach” Hebrew now. As with everything I do, I make it 100% open access and free to use. I have lots of worksheets, charts and keyboards I’ve created a long the way. If you’re interested in joining and learning Biblical Hebrew for free, let me know! https://learningzion.com/hebrew/
Isaiah Institute Bookclubs
In 2022 my mom and I started moderating bookclubs for The Isaiah Institute. Last year we covered Isaiah Decoded. This year we are doing quite a few!
